Previewing the Blue-Gold Game

Who is Out?

To say this game will be lacking some star power would be an understatement, and the biggest battle of them all will not take place. All winter this has been billed as the game we will see Drew Pyne go up against Tyler Buchner, but with Buchner injuring his ankle this past week, he will miss the game.

We already know of the issues at wide receiver, as Avery Davis and Joe Wilkins Jr. will miss the game, and star center Jarrett Patterson is out as well. He joins four offensive linemen that will miss Saturday’s scrimmage, including Billy Schrauth and Pat Coogan, two guys fighting for a depth position along the interior of the offensive line.

On defense, Jayson Ademilola is the big miss upfront, and star linebacker JD Bertrand as well as CB1 Cam Hart will also miss the game. Still, them being out brings opportunities for some young guys to come in and prove they belong in South Bend, while also trying to cement their roles for the upcoming season.
