Previewing the Blue-Gold Game

What to expect

Competition, Competition, Competition.

All of these men came to Notre Dame to prove they belong, and for most of them, they will be getting a great opportunity not only in front of their coaches but also the fans. The loss of the Pyne-Buchner shootout is a miss, but we will get to see Steve Angeli, a talented four-star true freshman signal-caller from New Jersey.

Another huge storyline is the wide receiver spot, as the Irish do not have a ton of bodies at the position, and will need to figure out what the depth chart is going to look like going into the summer months. They will get the vets back at some point, but for a guy like Jayden Thomas, this is a huge opportunity for him, as he is penciled in as the WR1 for the Gold Team.

Overall, this game is going to be a lot of fun, and very exciting, as some players put on the Notre Dame football uniform for the first time in live action. My eyes will be set on Pyne, as he looks to inch above Buchner on the depth chart, but also at some of the newer faces, and how they could make an impact for the Irish in 2022.
