The Notre Dame football team continues to stack talent, and their recruiting for the 2023 class is on a whole other level right now.

When he was brought in to be the defensive coordinator for the Notre Dame football program, everyone knew how good a recruiter Marcus Freeman was. He was able to bring elite players to the University of Cincinnati, a program he has helped build into a College Football Playoff contender the last two seasons.

Now, as head coach of the Notre Dame football team, Freeman has taken this to another level, utilizing assets he did not have with the Bearcats. This has been evident by how strong he finished out the 2022 recruiting class, keeping some of the Brian Kelly commits with him, and how well he is doing in 2023.

As it stands, the Irish have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the 2023 cycle, and it does not appear that Freeman and his staff will be slowing down any time soon.

Notre Dame football 2023 class is loaded

To say the 2023 recruiting class for the Irish is loaded would be an understatement, as they have multiple players who are considered top-5 at their respective positions in the country. Five-star defensive end Keon Keeley leads a group that is going to do special things in South Bend, and it is clear that Freeman was the right choice to take over for Kelly when he bolted to LSU.

He has built an incredible staff around him of elite recruiters in their own right, and that has led to what has seemed like a weekly commit from a four-star talent. We saw it with Sam Pendleton on Monday, and we should continue to see it in the coming weeks.

It is exciting to think where this Irish team is going to go under Freeman, as they are building back up to be legitimate national title contenders. Sure, they have been a top team in the country for quite some time now, but not a title contender, something that will change with Freeman at the helm.
