The Notre Dame football team was shut out of the action on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft, but Day 3 could bring a very different narrative.

The Notre Dame football team won 11 games last season, playing well enough to knock on the door of the College Football Playoff and punch their ticket to the Fiesta Bowl. All of the success that they have had in recent years should have led to multiple Irish being selected across the first two days of the 2022 NFL Draft, but that did not end up being the case.

In fact, the Irish were shut out of Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft, after seeing star safety Kyle Hamilton go with the No. 14 overall pick to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. This was to be expected, however, as many top draft prospects for this year’s class decided to return to campus, causing a big drop in representation for the school early on.

On Day 3, that should change, as there are plenty of draftable players remaining who played for the Irish last season.

Notre Dame football could see multiple players taken on Day 3

Many players remain that should go between the fourth and seventh rounds, including star running back Kyren Williams. Early on in the process, many felt that Williams was the best overall running back in this draft class, but a tough NFL Combine really hurt his draft stock.

Another player who should go on Day 3 is Jack Coan, the veteran quarterback who had a monster year for the Irish in his only season with the program. On defense, Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa is a guy who has at least fourth-round talent, and I believe a team will take a chance on him early on Saturday.

A final big-name player to keep an eye on is Kevin Austin Jr., who I believe will be a playmaker in Year 1 at the next level. Austin Jr. had a great draft season, and when all is said and done, he has the talent to be a WR2 in the right spot as a rookie.

Day 3 should be an exciting one for the Irish.
