The Notre Dame football team finally had another player selected, as Kyren Williams was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams at No. 164 overall.

In the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame football program saw star safety Kyle Hamilton picked with the No. 14 overall selection. That pick ended a multi-year drought for the Irish, who had not seen a player taken in the first round since the 2019 NFL Draft.

That took place on Thursday, and despite Friday night bringing two rounds, no Notre Dame football player was taken either. On Saturday, the draft is wrapping up with the final four rounds, and finally, in the fifth round, another member of the Irish heard their name called.

We stated earlier that this could be a day where multiple members of the Notre Dame football team get selected, and at pick No. 164 overall, one finally came off the board.

Notre Dame football star lands with the Los Angeles Rams

That player was Kyren Williams, the team’s star running back the last two seasons, who was picked by the Los Angeles Rams. Williams was seen by many heading into the draft season as a possible Day 2 pick, but he lands in a solid spot with the Rams, who traded up with the Las Vegas Raiders to go and get him.

Williams ends up in Los Angeles with a teammate from the 2020 college football season, as Ben Skowronek was a seventh-round pick of the Rams last year.

Los Angeles is fresh off a Super Bowl title this past season, as they traded away a bunch of assets to get quarterback Matthew Stafford last offseason. Stafford and the Rams now get another strong running back to add to the group, a group that includes Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson, two young backs as well.
