The Notre Dame football program was bolstered by the transfer of Jack Coan last season, and he could have an instant impact in Indianapolis.

Thanks to an excellent draft season for Jack Coan, many expected him to be a Day 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Coan was outstanding for the Irish in his only season with the program, leading them to an 11-1 regular-season record, and a record-setting performance in the Fiesta Bowl.

After going undrafted, Coan landed in Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent, which could end up being a blessing for him and his career.

Depth chart

Looking at the depth chart in Indianapolis, Matt Ryan is the unquestioned starter, and he brings a wealth of experience and success to the position. Last season, the Colts made the wrong move by bringing in Carson Wentz to be their starter, but in Ryan, they get a player who has taken a team to the Super Bowl before.

Behind Ryan is nobody to write home about, as Sam Ehlinger is the presumed QB2 for this roster heading into the spring and summer. In Coan, the Colts have a legitimate player with a ton of college experience that is going to push Ehlinger, and I believe supplant him on the depth chart going into Week 1.
