The Notre Dame football team should be one of the best in the country in 2022, and here are five early predictions heading into the summer.

We are officially inching closer to the summer months, which means the Notre Dame football will be back on the practice field getting ready for the Ohio State matchup in Week 1. That is going to be must-see television, but before we get there, we have to take a look at this roster and make some predictions about what could happen during the 2022 season.

Now, these are not just ordinary predictions, but bold ones, and if those come true, it could be a special season in South Bend.

Isaiah Foskey leads the nation in sacks

The Irish defense has some tall tasks ahead of them this season, including right out of the gate, as they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. In that game, the goal will be to stifle CJ Stroud, one of the best quarterbacks in the country, and a potential Heisman Trophy candidate.

Last season, Isaiah Foskey finished with 11 sacks, good for a tie for 11th in the country. This season, with some better players around him on the defensive side of the ball, especially up front, I could see Foskey coming in at No. 1 overall, a mark that would make him the all-time leading sack guy in program history.
