The Notre Dame football program is on a recruiting tear right now, as they got a commitment from elite 2023 WR Rico Flores on Sunday afternoon.

The Notre Dame football program continues to dominate in recruiting, this time landing 2023 wide receiver Rico Flores out of California on Sunday afternoon, making it four commifive dayse-day span. Flores was offered way back in April of last year and the staff has been high on him for quite a while now.

He had high interest in the Irish from the start and was last on campus for his big official visit push in early June. Flores had a top three of Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State but ultimately picked in favor of the Irish.

The official visit was huge to say the and really solidified where the Irish were in his recruitment late in the process, leading up to his scheduled commitment. The relationships with current commits was a key factor obviously the trust with the staff as well.

At the moment Flores holds 30 offers from the likes of Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Southern Cal, and many others.

What will Rico Flores bring to the Notre Dame football program?

The 6’1 190-pound wide receiver is going to bring quickness and an excellent frame for a wideout. He’s both strong and shifty with the ability to make opponents look silly in the open field and excelling at getting separation from defenders at the line of scrimmage.

Flores has very fluid hips and can change direction at the drop of a hat. Not only is he elusive but if you can’t jam him off the snap he can easily run right by you, having outstanding tracking ability downfield on the deep ball. He’s solid all the way around when it comes to receiver abilities and there isn’t much he isn’t good at.

What I love about his game is his grittiness when playing the ball in the middle of the field and running crossing routes. He isn’t afraid to make the tough catches and will stand in there and take a hit which you love to see. He’s fearless and you really can’t ask for much more.

With Rico Flores making his commitment public, the 2023 recruiting class holds 18 pledges with now 9 on offense and same goes for the defensive side. Flores will be joining Braylon James as the second receiver in the class, with the staff expecting to add no less than four guys in that position group when it’s all said and done.

Notre Dame football remains hot and stays ranked No. 1 in both the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes. The staff should be getting even more good news tomorrow to add to this already historic recruiting class. Thank you Marcus Freeman because we were told for over 10 years this exact situation that’s unfolding in front of us couldn’t ever happen in South Bend.
