The Notre Dame football team has loaded up the 2023 recruiting class with talent, and are currently the No. 1 group in all of college football.

There is no doubt that there is something special going on when it comes to this Notre Dame football program, as the recruits keep coming and coming. Head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff have hit the ground running in terms of recruiting, and the results have been out of this world.

As it stands, according to 247Sports.com, the Irish have the No. 1 or 2 recruiting class for both the 2023 and 2024 cycles. They list the 2023 class at No. 2 overall, behind Ohio State, but one media outlet still has the Irish on top.

Recently, ESPN updated their recruiting class rankings for the 2023 class (subscription required), and the Notre Dame football team remained at No. 1. That is no big shock, as the Irish have been on another level in terms of recruiting since Marcus Freeman became head coach, and it is not going to stop anytime soon.

In fact, on July 15, Texas wideout Jaden Greathouse is expected to announce his commitment, and it should be Irish once again.

Notre Dame football building for elite future

It was considered the narrative that the Notre Dame football program could put together very good recruiting classes, but never an elite one. Sure, they have had years where they land elite players, but in terms of the class as a whole, this is a whole new ballgame for the program.

If they can continue at this pace, there is no doubt that the College Football Playoff should be a regular destination for the Fighting Irish.

It is going to be interesting to see how all of this shakes out, as there are still plenty of recruits still making their decision, and some are predicted to turn to the Irish. Even if they finish at No. 2 overall, that is still an incredible accomplishment for Freeman in Year 1 at the helm of the program.
