It has been a tremendous run for Marcus Freeman as head coach of the Notre Dame football program, and on Friday, he landed another huge recruit.

On Friday afternoon, Notre Dame football landed 2023 wide receiver Jaden Greathouse out of Texas. Greathouse was last on campus in June for his official visit and the Irish had already set themselves up in a great position leading up to the visit.

After being around the staff more and the other commits again, South Bend was the place he wanted to be, and he made that known on Friday afternoon officially. The opportunities for early playing time, along with the relationships were big, and then add the academic side to it like it usually does and that was the icing on the cake for Greathouse and his family.

At the moment Greathouse holds 14 offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina, and many others.

What Greathouse brings to the Notre Dame football program

The 6’2 215-pound wide receiver is an all-around solid wide out prospect who does everything well. He runs route at a top level and has a great get-off the line of scrimmage. He has a strong lower body that helps him break through tough tackles in open space and can also use his shiftiness to make them miss.

To add to his already solid ability to create space and run routes, he’s physical and actually likes blocking and does it well at that. He’s aggressive in all phases of his game. Greathouse has a little bit of Claypool in him when it comes to that aggressiveness and you love to see that and hope it plays out like that once he puts on the gold helmet.

After his junior year, he racked up some really good stats on the football field, catching over 180 balls and over 3,100 receiving yards. He’s a ball magnet as well with 43 touchdown catches over a 3-yard span. The competition he faces is really good too so it’s nice to see him with those types of numbers and the production he’s put together thus far.

With Greathouse making it official the 2023 class now holds 20 pledges with 10 on the offensive side and also 10 on defense. Greathouse will be joining Braylon James and Rico Flores in the wide receiver room. Chansi Stuckey has done a tremendous job since being named wide receivers coach this offseason and it doesn’t seem like that’ll change anytime soon.

The hope seems to be 4-5 receivers this class but that all depends on who and if they can get their guys remaining on the top of their board. It could also end up being just these three as well if the chips don’t fall right but that seems unlikely.

Until then, the Irish are now back on top as the number one class in the nation and when it’s all said and done the Irish could finish with a top 5 group in Marcus Freeman’s first cycle as the head coach, which would be outstanding, to say the least.
