Notre Dame football: Possible scapegoats if the Irish disappoint in 2022

The Schedule

Looking ahead to the 2022 schedule, it starts with a bang, and ends with one too, as the Irish could be facing a top-5 team in each matchup. Of course, the Irish open up the 2022 season against Ohio State, a national powerhouse that many feels could be a College Football Playoff contender this season.

From there, the slate gets a bit easier, but there are some key dates to keep an eye on during the middle of the season. Notre Dame has to go out to Vegas to take on BYU, and a matchup against a fired-up Clemson team, fresh off a tough 2021 season, looms large as the season begins to wind down.

Then, to close out the regular season, Notre Dame travels to California to take on their rival, USC. While the Trojans have had their hands full with the Irish as of late, this is a new program under head coach Lincoln Riley, and when all is said and done, they could wind up being one of the best teams in the country this season.
