Notre Dame football players getting attention for 2022 national awards

The Notre Dame football team has some of the best players in the country taking the field in 2022, and many have been named to preseason Watch Lists.

With the 2022 college football season only a few weeks away, the time has come for many of the major awards to start announcing their preseason Watch Lists. On both sides of the ball, every position group has its special award, named after some of the greatest players to ever play that specific position.

The Notre Dame football team, they were well represented on these lists, headlined by true junior tight end, Michael Mayer. Widely regarded as one of the best players in the country, Mayer is going to be the anchor of this Notre Dame football team on the offensive side of the ball in 2022, and he was listed on multiple Watch Lists.

Here, we take a look at some of the major awards for the 2022 season, and which Notre Dame football players earned preseason honors.

In addition, many members of the Irish football team have been named to preseason All-America teams. Overall, as you can see by the mix of players on these award lists, the Notre Dame football team is loaded on both sides of the ball, and should be considered a legitimate College Football Playoff contender heading into the 2022 college football season.

The Notre Dame football team will kick off their 2022 schedule on the road, as they head to the Horseshoe to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ohio State and Notre Dame are both preseason favorites to contend for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and this Week 1 matchup could go a long way in deciding who gets in, and who is left on the outside looking in.
