The Notre Dame football team has a tough schedule heading into the 2022 season, and they will play in some of the biggest games on the college football slate.

The Notre Dame football team goes into the 2022 season as one of the best teams in the country, after being ranked No. 5 overall in the first Coaches Poll earlier this week. For first-year head coach Marcus Freeman, the expectations are high, especially after a strong 2021 season, and many stars returning.

Notre Dame football gets the party started right out of the gate, taking on the No. 2 team in that poll, the Ohio State Buckeyes. That has the makings of arguably the best game on the entire 2022 schedule in terms of college football this season, but the big matchups do not stop there.

Recently, Brad Crawford from 247Sports.com put together a list of the top 25 most anticipated games of the 2022 season, and the Irish were all over it.

The matchup against Ohio State was ranked No. 3 on the list by Crawford, and rightfully so, as it will have early-season College Football Playoff implications. Notre Dame football should be the underdog in that game, but with so much talent returning, it is anybody’s guess who will win, especially that early in the season.

The No. 11 game for Crawford is the regular season matchup with Clemson, a game that should also have CFP implications. Clemson is looking to rebound after a tough 2021 season, and certainly has the roster to do so.

Finally, the Irish will take on the USC Trojans on the road to close out their 2022 schedule, and for Crawford, that game is the No. 22 most anticipated matchup in the country this season. That game could decide one of the four CFP spots as well, so overall, buckle up for what should be an exciting, and tough 2022 schedule for the Fighting Irish.
