The Notre Dame football program had a special player in Kyle Hamilton, and he has not slowed down at the next level, dominating in training camp.

Going into the 2022 NFL Draft, the Notre Dame football program had not had a player selected in the first round since 2019. That year, Jerry Tillery was the pick, and in 2022, many expected Irish safety Kyle Hamilton to at least be a top-10.

Well, Hamilton ended up falling a bit in the first round, landing with the Baltimore Ravens at pick No. 14 overall, but he has looked like a top-10 pick this summer. The big safety from South Bend has picked up right where he left off, and the Ravens certainly have themselves a special player they can build their defensive backfield around.

Hamilton joined a solid situation in Baltimore, as the Ravens are one of the best teams in the AFC, and his play could end up being the difference between them missing out on the playoffs once again in 2022, or getting back to the top of the AFC North.

Notre Dame football star dominating in Baltimore

It has not been all rosy for Hamilton in his first summer with the Ravens, as he had an injury issue early in August, but he has come on strong this preseason. Showing that incredible athleticism that made him an All-American at Notre Dame, Hamilton is one of the best young rookies in the game, and he has been unstoppable since the Ravens started playing other teams.

As Pro Football Focus tweeted out on Tuesday, Hamilton has been perfect this preseason for the Ravens.

If he continues at this pace in the regular season, where he will be facing a lot more QB1s than he has faced this summer, you have to like his chances of possibly being the AFC’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. For a guy who fell to the middle of the first round, that would be quite the statement to make to the other teams that passed on him this past April.

Of course, Notre Dame football has the tall task of replacing him this season, but if you do get the chance to watch the Ravens this season, you won’t be surprised by what you see by No. 14.
