Notre Dame football vs Marshall Prediction and Odds for 2022 Week 2 College Football
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team heads home to South Bend for their home opener against Marshall, and here are the latest odds and our prediction.
Coming off a tough loss at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Notre Dame football team returns home to the friendly confines of Notre Dame Stadium in Week 2. The Irish had a tall task ahead of them in Week 1, playing the No. 2 team in the country, but on Saturday, the sledding should be much smoother.
The Irish opponent in Week 2 will be the Marshall Thundering Herd, who dominated a very weak FCS team in Week 1, scoring over 50 points. While a team like Norfolk State is not much of a challenge for a program like Marshall, the Notre Dame football team is heavy favorites on Saturday and should have no problem notching their first win of the season.
Here, we look at the early odds and prediction for this matchup.
Notre Dame football vs Marshall Odds Week 2
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Irish are going to roll in this one, as they are currently 20.5-point favorites against the Thundering Herd. The over/under for this contest is set at 51.5, and if you bet the Irish on the money line, they are currently -1450. Not much money to be made there.
Notre Dame football vs Marshall Prediction Week 2
The Fighting Irish fell from No. 5 in the country to No. 8 in the latest AP Poll, but that is coming off a very tough matchup against Ohio State. They have a real chance to get their season back on track this Saturday, and against a MAC team in the Thundering Herd, they should have no issues.
We also could see Jarrett Patterson returning from injury, so that will bring the Irish back to full strength along the offensive line. I could also see a breakout game from Lorenzo Styles Jr. in this matchup, as the Thundering Herd do not have the talent in the secondary to contain him.
Overall, this is a game where the Irish should roll, and I believe they get out to a fast start against Marshall and put them away very early. There will be a lot of fanfare heading into this game, as Marcus Freeman looks for win No. 1, and his team helps him notch that milestone victory.
Final Score: Notre Dame football 44, Marshall 14
