Notre Dame football: 5 Reasons Irish will blow out Cal on Saturday

Marcus Freeman

The Notre Dame football team has yet to win a game with Marcus Freeman as their head coach, losing to Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl before two straight losses to kick off the 2022 season. This is not the kind of start anybody expected from Freeman and his staff, as he came in with high expectations, and has had a rough go of it so far.

Well, all of that changes on Saturday afternoon, as the Irish should pummel the California Golden Bears, and Freeman can finally notch win No. 1 as head coach of the Irish. The truth is, the slow start is not indicative of what the future will be with Freeman at the helm, as he is putting together elite recruiting classes, and working with a lot of kids that he did not recruit himself.

The bottom line is, that Freeman was one of the more sought-after assistant coaches in the country a year ago, and it was a no-brainer for the program to hire him as their next head coach. He will be a huge advantage for the Irish on Saturday, because he likely not only wants to get his first win but do so in a convincing fashion.
