The Notre Dame football program landed a big-time commitment on Saturday night, as running back Jeremiyah Love will bring his talents to South Bend.

While the 2022 Notre Dame football had a terrible Saturday night, the future of the program got a big boost, as top-100 running back Jeremiyah Love made his commitment to the Irish. Love is rated by some as a top-50 player in the country, and a top-5 running back, so getting him was certain to boost Notre Dame football in terms of the recruiting rankings.

Now, as the calendar slowly inches towards November, the team is struggling, but the recruiting continues to surge. Head coach Marcus Freeman is an elite recruiter and has stacked talent for both the 2023 and 2024 classes, and this latest commitment saw the Irish rise in the 2023 rankings.

Where does Notre Dame football stand within the 2023 rankings?

According to 247Sports,  the Irish have leapfrogged Oklahoma in the current 2023 rankings, going from No. 4 overall, to back into the top 3. Their No. 3-rated recruiting class is only behind the likes of Georgia and Alabama, so the Irish are in very good company.

So while the wins have been hard to come by for Marcus Freeman on the field, the wins continue to come off of it. Remember, this roster is made up of a lot of players that Freeman has not recruited, so it may take a year or so before we start seeing the results of what he is doing on the recruiting trail.

Of course, Notre Dame football has to start winning more games on a consistent basis this season, as other big-time programs are going to use their losses against them to try and flip commitments. If the Irish continue to land these kinds of players, the future is bright, but the talent has to equate to wins on Saturday.
