Notre Dame football looks to finish the season at Notre Dame Stadium strong on senior day against the Boston College Eagles.

Notre Dame football has been home for some outstanding players for the last 4+ years, and those players will be honored this senior day against Boston College. With the Irish already bowl-eligible, they look to push their record to 8-3 one week away from a matchup against high-powered USC. With the area’s low temperatures, high wind, and snow, expect Notre Dame to lean heavily on their highly talented running backs group.

Once again, Notre Dame football will be without graduate transfer Brandon Joseph as they look to take care of business against a solid passing attack. Former Notre Dame quarterback Phil Jurkovec who transferred to Boston College, has fallen off a bit after starting his career with the Eagles red hot. Whether Jurkovec, who’s dealing with a knee injury, or Emmett Morehead at QB, the Irish need to know where talented Eagles receiver Zay Flowers is at all times.

The Irish will see two more familiar faces, John McNulty and George Takacs, at the game. McNulty, the former tight ends coach at Notre Dame, has since taken over as the offensive coordinator for Boston College. Struggling to find consistent playing time as a part of Notre Dame football, George Takacs followed coach McNulty and is having a solid season with the Eagles. Takacs has 24 receptions for 248 yards and 1 touchdown on the season. He’s third on the team in receiving yards.

Notre Dame has struggled to cover the spread this season when double-digit favorites, and I expect the trend to continue here. This particular Notre Dame football squad and Drew Pyne have also struggled at home for most of the season. Expecting the Irish to beat the Eagles by 3 touchdowns after they just had their biggest win of the season is a lot to ask. While I believe the Irish will win this one, it’ll be closer than most expect.

Marcus Freeman and company need to finish the season off with a big win at home and secure an 8-4 season at worst. Moving into the big matchup next weekend, there cannot be a letdown against Boston College. After such a tumultuous start, a win against Boston College could go a long way for this program. Go Irish!
