What does cornerback Karson Hobbs, out of Cincinnati, Ohio, bring to the Notre Dame football program for the 2024 recruiting class?

Hobbs had been committed to South Carolina for quite some time but the Irish have been lurking for a while. When they offered Hobbs back in September all bets were off if the staff gave him the full green light to commit. They did just that after he took another visit to South Bend and it was a no-brainer for Hobbs and his family to join Notre Dame. He’s been a lifelong Irish fan and this offer and opportunity were too much to pass on so he made it official. — At the moment Hobbs holds 6 offers from South Carolina, Kentucky, and West Virginia among others. I’d expect more offers to follow but Hobbs is where he wants to be now and that’s Irish.

What will Hobbs bring to South Bend?

The 6’1 180-pound defensive back is an athletic and lengthy cornerback. He’s going to bring speed to the room that’s for sure. Hobbs is a really good cover corner and is really solid in man-to-man. His speed and ability to stay with his guy downfield are impressive. Hobbs has so much room to grow, in a good way. He’s raw when it comes to playing corner but he has all the traits to be really good especially when he continues to focus on that position and get more and more experience. Hobbs could be someone that started slow in rankings but really emerges down the road with more film and camps.

With Hobbs committing the 2024 class now holds 7 pledges with 4 on offense and now 3 on the defensive side of the ball. Hobbs is the first defensive back in the 2024 class and he will lead the efforts to continue adding elite talent to this class. At the moment this class is already off to a huge start, holding the No. 2 class in 2024 with the addition of Hobbs. This group will only continue to build but the foundation that’s already in place is key. Freeman and Co. are once again off to a great start in the next recruiting class to come in.
