Notre Dame football among betting favorites to land Hudson Card

According to Adam Thompson of Bookies.com, Notre Dame football is among the top betting favorites to land Hudson Card as their next quarterback.

Hudson Card, one of the top transfer quarterbacks available, surely has quite a few teams vying for his services next fall. With Card’s hometown being Austin, Texas, I wrote not long ago that it wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed in Texas. However, with TCU currently a top program in the nation and Max Duggan primed to enter the NFL draft, TCU seems like a perfect fit. Thompson seems to agree, as he has TCU at +300 to land Card, which is an implied probability of 25%.

Notre Dame football, however, has the second-best odds to land Card, according to Thompson, at +400 or an implied probability of 20%. This is no surprise because, according to top recruiting and transfer portal experts, Notre Dame has some momentum with Card. Moreover, with Drew Pyne leaving, it leaves the door wide open for a transfer to come in and win the starting job against Buchner, Angeli, and Minchey.

Another Texas team listed, with the 5th best odds, is UTSA coming in at +900, a 10% probability. Behind Notre Dame football and rounding out the top 5 are Wisconsin and Kentucky at +475 and +500, respectively. TCU could make sense as the team to beat in his recruitment, given their CFP selection and obvious need for a quarterback next year. Currently, they have only freshmen and sophomores listed for the position.

It will probably be a week or two before we figure out where Card is going, but Notre Dame has to like their chances should he be the guy they want to pursue. There are a lot of great names out there currently, and potentially a few more that figure to enter the portal. Notre Dame is squarely in the running regardless of what Card does.
