Notre Dame football has landed a class of 2024 running back out of Missouri in Aneyas Williams this afternoon. The staff got on Williams very early and loves everything about his game. They made it known he was their top running back target in the 2024 class. Since June, when they offered, he’s felt that love and priority from the staff. After a couple visits, Williams saw enough and wanted to be Irish and be coached by this staff. So he pulled the trigger publicly on Friday afternoon. — At the moment, Williams holds 20 offers from the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Iowa, Oregon, and many other top programs.

Notre Dame football: What will Williams bring to South Bend?

The 5’10, 195-pound running back will bring a prototype all-round solid backer. He does everything well; he’s a compact back, similar to a player like Kyren Williams, whom we all know very well. Doesn’t blow you away with straight-line speed but has excellent vision and balance when the ball is in his hands. His catching ability is above average, and he will excel at running routes coming out of the backfield and even in the slot. If he’s anything like Kyren, that will be a massive win for Notre Dame football for years to come. While he can make players miss in space and has that shiftiness about him, he isn’t afraid to put his head down and get physical. His game is very complete, and it’s good to see that this early in his career. Really excited to see his development continue during his senior season.

With Williams committing, the 2024 class now holds 7 pledges, 2 on defense and 5 on the offensive side. Williams is the lone back at the moment. I definitely see the staff wanting a duo this class, especially if this current recruiting cycle only ends up with 1 running back after losing commitments from Dylan Edwards. Additionally, we are on the cusp of losing Jayden Limar if he decides to stay closer to home. We will see, but Williams is a tremendous early pickup for the staff. Now it’s about continuing to build that relationship with him and getting to next year’s signing day without any doubts about his decision.
