While nothing has been stated publicly concerning a couple of current Notre Dame football commits, signs are pointing to de-commitments in the future. Jayden Limar and Peyton Bowen are Irish recruits who may soon flip to other schools.

I linked Peyton’s tweet shooting down NIL rumors in yesterday’s newsletter, but there’s too much smoke for me not to think there’s a fire somewhere. Whether it’s disputing dollar amounts or what was explicitly offered, NIL seems to be a significant factor in his recruitment. Although to be fair, he’s a high school student dealing with grown men throwing money and promises in his direction. It’s undoubtedly been a burden on the young kid, who will be just as happy as the rest of us when he makes things official.

The rumor on Oklahoma recruiting boards is that Oregon and Oklahoma are going back and forth, constantly upping the offer to Peyton and his family. With Marcus Freeman’s in-home visit with the family yesterday evening, there’s the slightest glimmer of hope. But, in the end, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Oregon is making things difficult on numerous programs with their NIL money and promises. Jayden Limar is another Notre Dame football commit on flip watch and will likely end up at Oregon. Given that Limar is from Lake Stevens, Washington, it’s not surprising that he wants to stay closer to home.

With a surplus of great running backs currently with the Irish, losing Edwards and Limar won’t hurt that bad. However, keeping Jeremiyah Love in the class would lessen the blow to almost a non-factor. Love is the true star of the group and has the brightest outlook. Pairing him with Jadarian Price and the rest of the Irish backs would be huge for the Notre Dame running back room’s future.

As shown by Oregon being a real factor so late in the process, anything can happen. Just don’t get your hopes up.
