This weekend, the Notre Dame basketball programs had a mixed bag as the men’s basketball team lost to Georgia, and the women’s team beat Virginia Tech. The latter was a matchup of two powerhouse programs in the NCAA as the 5th-ranked Irish took down the 6th-ranked team in the nation 63-52.

Olivia Miles led the way for the Irish, and though she was only 6-17 from the field, she finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists. In addition, Lauren Ebo had a massive impact off the bench playing 22 minutes and contributing 15 points.

After a semi-close game for most of the way, the men’s basketball team lost by 15 to the Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 77-62. Once again, Nate Laszewski led the way for the squad, shooting 7 of 10 from the field, including 4 of 7 from deep for 20 points. Next, the men’s basketball team will head to Florida State to face a struggling Seminoles squad, as the women’s team will host Western Michigan. Both programs are still in fine shape this early in the season, but the women’s team looks poised to make a deep postseason run.

The Notre Dame football program received some more positive transfer news as Penn punter Ben Krimm committed to the Irish. He joined kicker Spencer Shrader as the only two portal commitments for the Irish thus far. While Brian Mason is clearly rounding out his unit, the offense and defense need a few more pieces to be in good shape heading into next season.

Kaleb Smith, a graduate transfer from Virginia Tech, visited the team this weekend for multiple days. According to Notre Dame 247Sports analyst Tom Loy, it went very well.
