After the wild impromptu ceremony that Peyton Bowen held on early national signing day, he ultimately chooses the Oklahoma Sooners. After setting a record for being committed to 3 different D1 schools in 24 hours, he switched from Oregon to Notre Dame and, finally, to the Sooners. Most are glad the circus has ended and are looking forward to the class of 2024.

When all the dust settled, Notre Dame still had a unanimous top 10 class in college football recruiting. It was their best class since the 2013 season, one year after they went to the BCS National Championship game against Alabama. There are some absolute studs on the team, and the Notre Dame football program will be fine moving forward.

The class of 2024 is in an even better position early on than the class of 2023. With 7 current commits, they have 2 ranked as top 50 players and are trending for another top 50 player. CJ Carr leads the way for the class as the elite 5-star quarterback that will be leading the recruiting charge for the Irish, just as Drayk Bowen did this year.

In the untamed wild west that currently is the college football landscape, expect some changes of heart, as we’ve already seen. Brandon Davis-Swain was a defensive line prospect committed to Notre Dame football. However, he has since de-committed in a mutual parting between him and the program. Regardless, it’ll be a wild and fun rollercoaster ride in the world of recruiting in the next couple of years. Be prepared for anything.

The Irish are in an excellent position with coach Marcus Freeman. It’s tough to argue there are better recruiters out there in college football when no money or NIL promises are involved. While he’s a great coach, especially on the defensive side of the football, he’s an even better person. He makes connections with recruits that are clearly hard to pass up. Stay tuned in the coming weeks, as we’ll have all your transfer portal and bowl game news.
