Best Gator Bowl Notre Dame vs. South Carolina Bet
South Carolina was impressive at the end of the season, beating both Tennessee and Clemson in dramatic upsets. That being said, I expect the Fighting Irish to bring the Gamecocks back down to Earth and win this matchup.
The main reason I like the Irish is that Notre Dame has a significant defensive advantage. It ranks 29th nationally on the year in opponent yards per play (4.9), while South Carolina is only 79th (5.6). The Gamecocks have been even worse in their last three games, surrendering a full six yards per play.
Notre Dame enjoyed a late-season offensive boost as well, with the 12th-best yards per play (6.7) over the final three games. South Carolina, while better of late, was just 44th on the season in yards per play (5.7).
Notre Dame is an impressive 28-2 in its last 30 games as a favorite. I trust the Irish to continue that streak in a Gator Bowl win.
