The Notre Dame football team got great news all across the board yesterday as Steve Wiltfong placed a crystal ball for Justin Scott to end up Irish. According to Tom Loy, the team also stopped by 5-star edge rusher Elijah Rushing’s school, who’s planning on taking a return visit.

With Justin Scott looking like he could be in the fold sooner rather than later with a decision looming on January 31st, the Irish are in a great spot. Adding Rushing with Scott would be a dominant defensive line duo to build around for years, likely only 3. I say that because those two would be instant stars at Notre Dame and ready to hit the NFL draft after their true junior seasons. They have a long way to go with Rushing but remain firmly in the fold. Regardless, national signing day is just under a year away; plenty can change between now and then.

Whether it’s a coincidence or not, edge rusher Jaxson Jones de-committed from the Washington Huskies today after the Irish coaching staff visited. If the team can get him on campus, the Irish should be able to lead his recruiting process.

According to 247Sports, one of Notre Dame’s newest safeties, Brandyn Hillman, was a top performer at the Polynesian Bowl Game. In the write-up on Hillman, Blair Angulo pointed to Hillman’s speed and instincts at the position as standing out. It’s long been known Hillman has the athleticism to play loads of positions on the field. He has All-American potential if the Irish pin down his future home, specifically at safety.

Unfortunately, Dara Mabrey did confirm via Twitter that she suffered a torn ACL in the contest against Virginia. She said it will end her final season at Notre Dame and noted she will stick by her team’s side for the remainder of the year. It’s a harsh blow to the Notre Dame family, and we’re wishing Dara a speedy and healthy recovery.

Next. Big recruit visiting the 29th. dark
