With six straight losses, the Fighting Irish are in desperate need of a win as they take on Wake Forest tonight on the road. The Demon Deacons trounced Notre Dame in South Bend earlier this month, so the Irish have revenge on the mind.

Things may be looking up for the program, as they’ve covered the spread in three straight. That gives bettors a unique opportunity thanks to BetMGM, where Irish fans have $1,000 worth of bet insurance waiting! Your first wager of up to $1,000 will be refunded in bonus bets if you lose.

I’ll explain below how the offer works and give you my best bet to use it on.

Notre Dame vs Wake Forest Prediction

This game will largely come down to how well Notre Dame shoots the ball. Wake Forest hasn’t covered the spread in three straight matchups and has won just three of its last nine. Poor defense has been the culprit, as the Deacons surrendered 90+ points in both of their previous two losses.

The Irish shot only 38% from the field and 19% from beyond the arc in the first meeting, so they’ll need to improve on those marks to keep this one close.

On the season, Notre Dame ranks 86th nationally in effective field goal percentage (52.4%) and 70th in three-point shooting percentage (36.1%). I expect a return to the norm today.

Wake Forest’s defense is as bad as its offense is good. The Demon Deacons are 240th in opponent two-point shooting percentage (51.6%) and 227th in opponent three-point shooting percentage (34.8%). As long as the Irish knock down some open looks, they’ll be in good shape to cover.

Notre Dame is 5-2 against the spread (ATS) in its last seven as an underdog while Wake Forest is just 4-5 ATS in its last nine as a favorite. Expect these trends to continue as the Fighting Irish hang around in this one.

Whether you’re with me backing Notre Dame or prefer a different bet in the game, just be sure to sign up for BetMGM first and lock down your $1,000 bet insurance.
