With Notre Dame football off to a hot start on the recruiting trail in the class of 2024, Elijah Rushing, a 5-star DL recruit, will visit the Irish. Given the team’s lack of depth on the defensive line, getting a talent like Rushing on campus for a visit is a massive win for the program. This is according to a tweet by Tom Loy of 247Sports.

The team is in a pretty good spot with many top prospects along the defensive line in the class of 2024, but they haven’t gotten a commitment from any new prospects in a while. Owen Wafle is the only defensive line commit in the class and has been committed for quite some time. Justin Scott still seems in a solid position with the Irish, but you could imagine if they landed two 5-star prospects along the DL?

After digging more on the Irish Illustrated site, Tom tells readers Rushing will be visiting South Bend for an official visit on June 9th. Elijah, from Salpointe Catholic high school, would be one of the biggest recruits the Irish could land this cycle. He’s a big 6’6” and 235-pound edge rusher that would immediately impact the Notre Dame football program.

The Notre Dame football prospect is rated as the 10th-best recruit in the nation according to 247Sports

With guys like CJ Carr, Cam Williams, and Aneyas Williams on the offensive side of the football, landing Rushing would be a big-time addition to the class. There’s still a long way to go in his recruitment, but getting any 5-star on campus for an official visit is a massive win in the recruiting game.

Coach Al Washington still has more to prove regarding his defensive recruiting abilities, but landing Rushing or Scott would make those concerns disappear. Whatever happens, getting the big man on campus is already a win.
