Notre Dame football vs MAC

Being primarily based in the Midwest region of the United States, it’s no shock that the MAC has seen several of its members go up against the Fighting Irish over the years. Going 9-0 against Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Toledo, and Western Michigan, Notre Dame has vanquished half of the MAC thus far.

The list of MAC squads that have yet to take the trip to South Bend for a non-conference showdown includes:

Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, and Ohio.

None of the bunch figures to be a rising national powerhouse anytime soon, though given its history of successful alumni in the sport, it’s shocking that Kent State hasn’t been able to finagle a game against Notre Dame.

The MAC has built a unique niche in the college football world with mid-week games that have more often than not delivered entertainment value due to the competitive nature of the conference — six different programs have won the conference over the last seven years — but getting featured on ESPN2 midweek is far different than a Saturday night primetime game on NBC.
