Notre Dame football has played but never beaten these FBS teams
Oregon State
- First game played: 1/1/2001
- Last game played: 12/28/2004
- Last game final score: 38-21
You wouldn’t expect the Beavers to be the program from the state of Oregon to have knocked off Notre Dame football twice, but alas, it was Oregon State that was able to come out against the Fighting Irish unscathed every time they played.
Luckily for OSU, they caught Notre Dame during one of the only five-year stretches in its history in which the program had as many losing seasons as they did winning seasons, though it should be noted that one of the years the matchup took place saw a 9-3 finish. The Beavers were able to beat the breaks off the Fighting Irish 41-9 in that year’s Fiesta Bowl. The other matchup between the two teams was a 38-21 win in the Kent Baer-coached Insight Bowl.
Depending on how Oregon State adapts to a post-USC and UCLA to the Big Ten world, perhaps there’s a third matchup in the future between these two teams in the expanded College Football Playoff.
