Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Brian Kelly still isn’t funny, more
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish might have lost on Saturday night, but at least Golden Domer fans don’t have to pretend to like Brian Kelly.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans are more than a little salty after the football team laid quite the egg against Louisville on Saturday night. To add insult to injury, former head coach Brian Kelly was able to rally his LSU squad to a victory over Missouri after being down big early.
There’s not much to be happy about for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fans on Sunday morning. But perhaps the fact that at least we don’t have to watch Brian Kelly be unlikeable every day is one positive.
Kelly once again showed why it’s likely no one really likes him when he was talking about getting ready for the Missouri game.
“All right, we’ll see you in Columbia,” Kelly said to close out his presser. “Bring your Columbia jackets.” When no one in the audience laughed, the LSU coach made it worse.
“It’s a joke” as he left the podium.
While there are plenty of people unhappy with Marcus Freeman today, he seemingly at least has the ability to not be totally socially inept.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey drop season opener
The Notre Dame football team wasn’t the only squad that suffered through a tough loss on Saturday night. The Irish hockey team opened its 2023 campaign against Clarkson College.
The Irish outshot the Golden Knights, 28-25 including holding a 12-11 edge in the final stanza. Unfortunately, Clarkson ended up doing more with less, as they knocked off the Irish, 3-1.
The Fighting Irish will take on Clarkson again on Sunday evening at 5pm with hopes of splitting the two-game series.
Soccer scores another big win
The No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s soccer team earned a massive 1-0 win over No. 14 Duke on Saturday night at Alumni Stadium. The victory means they are still undefeated in the ACC (4-0-1) and move back to the top of standings.
Next up for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish soccer team is a non-conference tilt on Tuesday night against Oberlin.
