The Notre Dame football team’s primary focus is on the winning the game against USC. But the Fighting Irish know the game is prime recruiting time too.

When the Notre Dame football team hosts the USC Trojans this weekend, they’ll also be hosting several top recruits. That includes a 2025 wide receiver prospect that might be among the best at his position.

Daylan McCutcheon is the 19th best player in the state of Texas for the 2025 class. He’s also the 17th best receiver in that year. Both of those factors make him more than a little attractive when it comes to Notre Dame football as they start to stock up for future seasons.

The receiver, who has 30 total offers already is set to make his return trip to South Bend, visiting this weekend for their battle against USC. He made an initial visit back in April to see everything that Notre Dame football had to offer. McCutcheon hopes that his fall weekend return gives him a deeper understanding of the program and hopes to get a new perspective this weekend.

“I’m really hoping to be able to get a lot of time with the coaching staff,” McCutcheon told Irish Breakdown. “I want to get to talk to them a ton and get to know them better. I’m also excited to see some of the campus stuff I wasn’t able to see last time like the dorms.”

The Fighting Irish have a long way to go before they going to be able to lock McCutcheon down. The wide receiver has said that he’s going to get down to 11 teams before he makes any final decision.

With signing day still not until next December, Notre Dame football has its work cut out for it. McCutcheon has previously said that he’ll likely pull the trigger next summer. That makes this weekend all about laying the groundwork.
