Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan blasted for trolling Caleb Williams on the field
One Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan got a little too carried away after his team beat the Trojans and his actions on the field have drawn scorn.
It’s safe to assume that even those Notre Dame Figthing Irish football fans who had hope that their team would beat USC, didn’t think the game was going to be a 48-20 blowout. It’s understandable why so many fans got carried away with the moment.
However, there is at least one fan that doesn’t appear to have gotten carried away with the moment. It appears his goal from the beginning was to go and get in the face of Trojans’ quarterback Caleb Williams.
While some fans might think that running onto the field and getting in the face of an opposing player is just part of the game, the reality is that it’s not only classless but stupid. And one recent student sure seemed like he wanted to mess around and find out.
Thankfully, Caleb Williams showed quite a bit of restraint in the wake of a 48-20 loss.
It does appear that part of the reason the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan made the particular comment he did to Williams is because the USC quarterback painted some … not so nice things on his nails (a weekly tradition) about the Golden Domers ahead of their game a year ago.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan blasted after rushing the field
While rivalry games don’t always bring out the best in people, it seems as if the fan rushing the field and getting anywhere near Williams was viewed as over the top by both Notre Dame and USC supporters.
That included Irish Breakdown writer Bryan Driskell who summed up the situation thusly:
He did get a bit of pushback from Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fans who thought it was “all in good fun.”
Driskell is far from the only one who had a problem wth the fan rushing the field.
CBS Sports analyst Su’a Cravens offered up his opinion as well.
It feels like it will take something similar to what Cravens is talking about to convince Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fans, and college football fans in general, to stop doing this.
