A former Notre Dame football star has announced his presence with authority to the NFL this season especially on Sunday, with a career-best outing.

Kyren Williams is one of those guys. Despite putting together a very good, if not exactly great, college football career, he wasn’t expected to be a star in the NFL. In fact, it’s worth pointing out there was no guarantee that Williams would be on an NFL roster this season.

Williams, a 5th-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, has so far, proved the doubters very much wrong. In the process, the former Notre Dame football star is someone who looks to have come out of nowhere to be among the best backs in the league.

On Sunday, the man who ran for more than 150 yards in a game just twice with Notre Dame football ran for 158 yards against the Arizona Cardinals. In the process, he led the Los Angeles Rams to a much-needed win as they position themselves as playoff contenders in what looks like a pretty wide-open NFC.

The former Notre Dame football star has shown that when he’s given the chance, he makes the most of it. This is just the second time Williams has carried the ball 20 or more times, and both times he’s hit that mark, he’s gained over 100 yards on the ground. Coincidently, the Rams have won both of those games.

Ex-Notre Dame football star sets career-best mark

It just so happens, the 25 carries against Indianapolis. and the 20 carries against Arizona are the the only two times in his short NFL career that he’s touched the ball that many times.

That it’s happened twice in the last four games would seem to indicate head coach Zach McVay is becoming a believer in what the former Golden Domer can do.

Notre Dame football fans should keep an eye on this one and see where just how high his star can fly this season.
