The Notre Dame football team is looking like the runaway leaders for one of the most talented tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class.

While there are plenty of schools that love to claim they deserve the title of “Tight End U,” it would be hard to argue against Notre Dame football if they are able to haul in James Flanigan.

Flanigan, a beast of a tight-end prospect who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 220 pounds, is a 4-star prospect out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. How much more perfect could a high-school player coming from Title Town to South Bend be? It feels like it’s the stuff of movie legends.

Maybe Flanigan agrees with that assessment, considering that most of the major recruiting services believe that when signing day for the 2025 recruiting class comes and goes, the number three tight end in the cycle will be signing with the Fighting Irish.

The latest recruiting guru to give his blessing to Notre Dame football is 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong. Wiltfong just recent entered a Crystal Ball for the big tight end. It’s worth pointing out that Wiltfong has, so far, been accurate on 23 of 24 official predictions for the 2025 class.

He’s also far from the only recruiting guru who believes Notre Dame football is going to win a battle for Flanigan over schools like Michigan, Wisconsin and Louisville. It would certainly be a nice bit of revenge to steal the tight end away from the Cardinals for one.

Notre Dame football the front-runner for James Flanigan

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives any other program very little chance of any other program besides Notre Dame football landing the 4-star prospect. In fact, the Fighting Irish currently have a 94.5 percent chance of winning the race according to that site.

Finally, Rivals’ FutureCast prediction model has Notre Dame football with a 100 percent chance of signing James Flanigan.

With that strong a set of headwinds, it sure feels like the Irish just need to be patient until next December when they’ll add to a 2025 Notre Dame football recruiting class that is already right at the top of the rankings.
