The Notre Dame football team could be getting a bit of a break against Pitt after a killer schedule and Vegas seems to agree with its line.

Notre Dame football is finally done with what was one heck of a murderer’s row of a schedule. Over the last four weeks, the Irish played four Top 25 teams. That they managed to go 2-2 is an accomplishment not many other programs could attain.

Now Notre Dame football gets a bit of a break. At least, Vegas certainly seems to see it that way. The Golden Domers open their week off their bye as 19-point favorites against the Pitt Panthers.

There’s plenty of reasons to expect Marcus Freeman’s squad could blow out the ACC school, considering that the Panthers have hit a bit of a rough patch. They’ve even changed quarterbacks, which unfortunately means the Irish won’t be facing off against a signal caller who used to be one of their own.

On the other hand, Pitt has shown flashes of a team that the South Bend faithful should be wary of. The Panthers might only be 2-5 on the season, but one of the wins is against the same Louisville Cardinals squad that dominated the second half against Notre Dame football.

There’s also the fact that former Notre Dame running back C’Bo Flemister is coming off a career best outing in a win against Wake Forest. Flemister ran for 105 yards on 23 carries. It looks like Pitt found a weapon at just the right time.

Notre Dame football heavily favored

The near three-touchdown spread comes as a bit of a surprise, considering that even when the Irish scored 48 points against USC, it wasn’t the offense that really did the job. Perhaps the oddsmakers believe the Irish defense will once again give Sam Hartman and company multiple short fields.

It will certainly be interesting to see which way the Notre Dame football spread moves as the week continues.
