A former Notre Dame football quarterback didn’t gold back when he offered his opinion about why Deshaun Watson is missing so much time this season.

It’s been a long time since Brady Quinn was a Notre Dame football star or an NFL quarterback. These days, Quinn is a football analyst who, for the most part, has turned into someone who doesn’t say things unless he knows what he’s talking about.

That’s likely why the ex-Notre Dame football star’s comments about Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson struck a chord with a close friend and apparently personal trainer of Watson’s, Quincy Avery.

It all started on Thursday afternoon when Quinn went on Fox Sports Radio to talk about the strange situation surrounding Watson, who continues getting ruled out of playing due to injuries that some believe have questionable severity.

Count the former Notre Dame football all-world quarterback who also played for the Cleveland Browns among those who are officially on the fence about how much Watson still wants to play football. Quinn laid out what he thinks is going on:

"“Everyone with a medical opinion has cleared Deshaun Watson. The situation is almost similar to a kid getting a $230 million trust fund. You ask them to get a job and they have no incentive to do it.”"

The comments for all the world to hear fired up Avery and sparked an exchange between the two men on Twitter.

Notre Dame football great throws down a zinger

After Avery threw down the gauntlet, Quinn made it clear he was more than willing to discuss things with Watson’s friend in person. “Come talk anytime you want in person,” he responded. “Open invitation.”

“I just seen you Saturday,” Avery shot back. “I don’t have anything I want to talk to you about. I’m telling you you are talking about things you don’t know. Talking on another man who doesn’t know you is weak.”

It’s not clear what exactly Watson’s buddy meant by seeing the Notre Dame football legend to onlookers and it wasn’t clear to Quinn either who fired back that he hadn’t seen Avery. The personal trainer then asked what the point of Quinn’s response was, which allowed the former Golden Domer to throw down one of the best zingers of all time.

The Notre Dame football star-turned-broadcaster was of course, alluding to Deshaun Watson being accused by dozens of women of sexual assault. Those alleged assaults usually occurred during massage therapy sessions.

It’s not a surprise at all, that his shot across the bow ended the conversation entirely.
