Notre Dame Football: 3 Takeaways from blowout over Pittsburgh
By Dante Pryor
What’s next for Notre Dame Football?
Saturday was a culture win for the Irish. They were the superior team, and they played like it. Notre Dame did not allow Pitt to turn Saturday into a rock fight. That is important because the Irish will be heavy favorites the rest of the year against inferior teams. The Irish have Clemson, Wake Forest, and Stanford left on the schedule.
Their combined records are 10-14. There could be some quit factor going on in Clemson, South Carolina. The offense hasn’t worked the way it was intended. There’s some question about how much autonomy Garrett Riley has as offensive coordinator. With Will Shipley in concussion protocol, things don’t look great for the Tigers.
Notre Dame, then, needs to come out and do the very same thing to Clemson as they did to Pitt. Keep in mind the Tigers have nothing left to play for. There’s no CFP and no ACC Championship. Saturday is their bowl game. Wounded Tigers still hunt, so Notre Dame needs to be careful and come out playing aggressive football.
Notre Dame Football can still make a New Year’s Six Bowl game, so they have a lot of incentive to finish strong. The next evolution of this Irish squad is playing with a championship swagger.
