The Notre Dame Football team might be favored to beat the Clemson Tigers on the field, but they lost out on an offensive line commit on Wednesday.

The Notre Dame Football team hasn’t had many losses in the last few years when it comes to recruiting. The Irish have some of the best classes in both 2024 and 2025, but on Wednesday afternoon, Marcus Freeman and company did suffer a loss.

Adding a bit of insult to injury, the Irish lost out on offensive line prospect Easton Ware to a team they’ve clashed with on the field quite a bit the last few years. Ware picked the Clemson Tigers, just a few days before Notre Dame Football will face off against the ACC squad in Death Valley.

What should soften the blow a bit is that once Ware divulged last week when he was announcing his commitment, the 2025 3-star prospect was predicted to be going to Dabo Swinney’s crew.

Ware announced last week who were on his final 10 teams and Notre Dame Football knew it had some quick work to overcome the number of big ACC schools that were among his favorites. The Fighting Irish were also having to fight off schools like Duke and Auburn.

In the end, the Lynchburg, Virginia player decided he wanted to stay closer to home than South Bend, Indiana.

Notre Dame Football goes back to the drawing board

The loss of Easton Ware is one of those that hurts, because the Irish don’t have a commit on the offensive line in the 2025 class yet. On the other hand, it’s hard to complain about the job that Marcus Freeman and company are doing considering that 247Sports currently lists Notre Dame as the third-best 2025 class in the country.

Notre Dame Football has the flexibility to just go back to the drawing board after the recruiting contest loss.
