The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team is going to be headed ‘home’ this winter when they go play in Dublin in a tourney titled the Friendship Four.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team already went to Dublin this year, so now it’s time for the hockey team to go “home” next year. On Thursday, the Golden Domers announced they’re going to be participating in a small mid-season tournament known as the Friendship Four that will take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 2024.

The tournament will feature the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Harvard, Boston University, and Merrimack. In other words, some of the most well-known college hockey programs in the world.

The Belfast tournament will take place in November of 2024, though the exact dates haven’t been announced yet. It does mean that the Fighting Irish will be leaving the country at least a few games into the season.

That’s certainly an interesting prospect but one of those experiences the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey team won’t be interesting in passing up.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Soccer drops playoff match

No. 9 Notre Dame squared off against No. 7 Clemson in the semifinal round of the ACC Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Irish, the results weren’t what South Bend faithful hoped for as the Tigers got the best of this one, advancing to the finals with a 3-2 victory.

The good news here is that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a good enough RPI and ranking that they’ll likely still make the NCAA Tournament as an at-large bid. The NCAA Tourney will kick off next week.

Dabo loves the Irish

Getting ready for the matchup between Notre Dame and Clemson, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney covered a number of topics in his last press conference of the week. Chief among them was hope complimentary he was of the Irish.

“This is a really good football team. I think they’re the most complete team we’ve played. I know they’re not undefeated, but I think this is the most complete team we’ve played. It’s a really, really experienced team. Very, very experienced. Veteran group. They really have all the pieces. Everything you need. They’re sound. They’re well-coached on both sides of the ball and special teams.”

Audric Estime remembers his mother

Notre Dame Fighting Irish player Audric Estime appeared on the Jim Rome show this week to talk about the great 2023 season he’s having but also to talk about some more personal things.

Among them was the running back’s memory of when his mom passed away when he was just 10. It’s definitely worth watching the short clip to get a better idea of just what kind of man Estime is and what kind of woman his mother was.
