The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team had one more rankings tumble in them after falling in the AP and Coaches poll on Sunday.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football game loss to the Clemson Tigers was bad enough. Despite being favorites entering Death Valley, the Golden Domers played one of their worst games of the year in a loss.

That loss led to a plunge in the polls and seemingly ended the chances to appear in a New Year Six Bowl. On Tuesday night, the latest CFP Rankings were released and the Notre Dame Football team dropped from 15th last week, to 20th this week.

While still technically in the rankings, it’s clear that they’d need a lot of help before they could jump back into contention for one of the biggest bowls on the block. With two games against teams with losing records remaining on the schedule, there isn’t much of a chance to get back into contention.

That means the only way that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish can look at 2023 as progress being made is if they not only win their final two regular season games and whatever bowl they do make, and then offer up some hope. Perhaps in the form of a certain OC firing.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish using helmet mics?

If there is one thing that has come from Conor Stalions and his ilk doing their sign stealing and cheating, it might be that college football starts allowing in-helmet mics like the NFL.

Football Scoop recently wrote a report that said the helmet mics might be a reality in 2024. That would certainly make things quite different. That could include better communication between the coaches and the quarterback in upcoming seasons.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish commits have themselves a night

While the 2023 season is looking like it might end with disappointment, the future of the Notre Dame Football program is looking bright. Last weekend, Fighting Irish quarterback commit CJ Carr had himself quite a game.

Carr completed 17 of 20 passes for 200 yards and two scores in his school’s playoff round victory.

2024 wide receiver commit Logan Saldate had a great outing in his team’s final regular season game. His three touchdowns allowed his team to make the playoffs as their season continues.
