Notre Dame Fighting Irish News: Marcus Freeman on the road, more
Marcus Freeman is taking advantage of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team having the week off by hitting the road and doing some recruiting.
Freeman is far from the only football coach who is going to be doing that recruiting. Most of the entire staff will be working their butts off to build for the future.
On Thursday, Freeman and director of recruiting Chad Bowden will be on the West Coast checking in on one of the top players in his class, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. The linebacker out of Bellflower, California committed to Notre Dame on July 23 and has been locked in ever since.
Meanwhile, defensive line coach Al Washington went to Alabama to see class of 2025 four-star edge-rusher CJ May. May committed to the Golden Domers in late September.
On Friday, embattled offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is staying in state to see see four-star offensive tackle Styles Prescod.
Over the next week, Irish coaches will continue overlapping and hitting different parts of the country to both make sure that commits are solid and to talk to a few uncommitted folks to lay the groundwork either for December’s signing day or next year’s class.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey gearing up for big series
Notre Dame opened the Big Ten Hockey season in interesting fashion last weekend when they tied Penn State twice. They won the first shootout and lost the second and now are looking for the first regulation conference victory.
They’ll be looking to do it against 19th-ranked Ohio State on Friday night. The Buckeyes haven’t gotten off to a great start to the season either so there’s a chance to get off to a good run.
The Friday game will be at 7:30pm and Saturday’s contest has its first face-off at 6pm. Both games will be on Peacock.
Joe Alt, future Titan
Joe Alt has gotten a ton of attention lately by NFL scouts and analysts. The latest CBS Sports Mock Draft has the talented offensive lineman going early in next spring’s draft.
In fact, that Mock Draft has Alt getting drafted 10th, by the Tennessee Titans. It would be the earliest a Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football offensive lineman got drafted that early in quite a while.
Transfer WR connected to Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Now that Boise State transfer wide receiver Eric McAlister is out there, there are a number of schools that have been tied to him.
According to 247Sports, one of those teams is Notre Dame. Considering the struggles that the Golden Domers have had at wide receiver this year that doesn’t seem like too big a shock.
Now the question is whether Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish coaches will really go after McAlister. Then it’s all about reeling him in and fighting off a plethora of other offensively challenged programs who might want him.
