Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Cree Thomas shores up already stunning class
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team followed up a big win on the field with a big win in the recruiting wars as their class got a bit better.
What could possibly be better for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team than following up a win over Wake Forest with a win over its opponents for the best defensive back recruit in the state of Arizona? Why nothing I tell you!
That’s why 3-star prospect Cree Thomas’s announcement on Monday afternoon was a welcome sight. The defensive back had long been thought to be a lean towards the Golden Domers. He finally made it official.
Thomas, who is a good friend and former teammate of Benjamin Morrison, announced he was going to be joining the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team’s 2025 class on the 247Sports Live YouTube channel on Monday.
Prior to the announcement, he talked briefly to 247 and made it clear that one of the big reasons why he chose the Irish is because of defensive backs coach Mike Mickens.
"“It’s clear that he develops guys. He’s a great coach. My ultimate dream is to go to the NFL, so having a coach that can develop me is going to be huge.”"
Notre Dame Fighting Irish bolster already great 2025 recruiting class
Before he made the announcement, Thomas was choosing between a gaggle of teams including Oregon, Wisconsin, Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Purdue, and California. In the end, the choice came down to Notre Dame and Wisconsin. The Irish were eventually able to lure him away from the Big Ten power.
Thomas’ pledge adds more juice to a class being put together by Marcus Freeman that is easily one of the best of the country. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team’s 2025 class is currently ranked 3rd in the country according to 247Sports. The other big recruiting sites have them ranked similarly.
