Notre Dame Fighting Irish phenom Hannah Hidalgo is continuing to rack up some impressive outings for the women’s basketball team.
Outside of a season opening loss to South Carolina, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball team has been on a roll. Hannah Hildalgo is also on a roll of her very own.
Both the team and Hidalgo’s roll continued on Friday when the Irish took on and whalloped a previously unbeaten Ball State squad.
The 17th-ranked Irish beat the Cardinals 90-59, marking the fourth time in five games that Notre Dame has scored at least 90-points in a game.
Once again, Hidalgo led her team to the victory, scoring 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Next up, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be facing another test, as they take on the 19th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers on November 29.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey can’t stop Boston College
The 18th-ranked Notre Dame hockey program faced a tough setback on Friday night, succumbing to a 6-1 defeat against the 21st-ranked Boston College. The Eagles seized an early lead, finding the net with a precise one-timer at 3:44 in the opening period, setting the tone for the game.
Despite Notre Dame’s first man-advantage opportunity midway through the period, their powerplay efforts were thwarted, and Boston College maintained a 1-0 lead. The Eagles extended their lead with another goal at 15:59 of the first period, heading into the intermission with a 2-0 advantage.
Despite the Notre Dame Fighting Irish outshooting their opponents 14-10, they struggled to convert opportunities into goals.
The second period witnessed a decisive shift in momentum as Boston College capitalized on three opportunities, including a goal during a five-on-three powerplay. Heading into the final frame with a substantial five-goal deficit, Notre Dame faced an uphill battle.
Both teams scored once in the last period, sealing a 6-1 victory for Boston College. The defeat highlighted the challenges the Notre Dame hockey team encountered, emphasizing the need for strategic adjustments and a resilient response in upcoming matchups.
