The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team squares off against Marquette on Saturday night. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game.

The Irish have had quite an up and down season so far this year. At times, they’ve looked like they had enough talent to give the best teams in the sport a run. Micah Shrewsberry and his squad will be able to put that to the test.

Odds

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are heavy, heavy dogs to the Golden Eagles. The latest odds have Marquette as 21.5-point dogs according to FanDuel and 21-point underdogs to DraftKings. The total has been set around 140, thanks in large part to Notre Dame’s occasional struggles on offense.

For what its worth, KenPom is predicting a 22-point loss for the Irish.

  • Braden Shrewsberry (G): Another true freshman who scored 16 points in the win over WMU.
  • JR Konieczny (F): Had a season-high18 points against Auburn, the only other ranked team Notre Dame has played so far this year.
  • Tae Davis (F): Posted a career-high 19 points against Western Michigan and completed a double-double with 10 boards. He’s leading the Irish with 6.3 rebounds per game.
  • Kebba Njie (C): NJie missed the start of the season and is still working his way back. He had just 6 points and 3 rebounds in Notre Dame’s last game.

Projected Marquette starters

  • Tyler Kolek (G): Kolek is second on Marquette in scoring with 15.1ppg and also leads the team in assists with 5.3 per game.
  • Stevie Mitchell (G): Stevie Mitchell doesn’t put up huge numbers but he does a little bit of everything well.
  • Kam Jones (F): Jones averages over 16 points per game and also nabs 1.2 steals per game.
  • David Joplin (F): Joplin averages 8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds.
  • Oso Ighodaro (C): The Marquette big man is going to be a problem for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as he can score down under and also hauls down over 6 rebounds per game.

Prediction

On the one hand, it appears that the Irish are actually a little better than some thought they’d be this year. However, it doesn’t seem likely they’re going to be able to give the 8th ranked team in the country a game from start to finish. Staying within 15 would be considered a win.
