What can someone say after a 70-0 win in a game that everyone agreed needed to be one where Notre Dame got some style points, and they got more than a few style points? For one thing, the Fighting Irish have to consider the mission accomplished.

Syracuse was never really in this game, and the Orange knew they were in trouble when they announced a walk-on freshman was starting at quarterback. It was 7-0 after Syracuse ran two plays. It was 14-0 after the Orange ran five plays. And it was 21-0 before the Irish offense took the field.

This was one of those games that was all good and almost zero bad. So what stood out the most among the avalanche of positive signs for a Notre Dame team hoping to secure a spot in the College Football Playoffs?

History was made repeatedly for Notre Dame and Syracuse

Plenty of records were broken on Saturday afternoon, and unsurprisingly, they were all good for the Irish and all bad for Syracuse. Right at the top of the list was the 35-0 lead after the first quarter being the most points Notre Dame scored in the first quarter. Ever.

There was also Jeremiyah Love tying Jerome "The Bus" Bettis for touchdowns in a season with 20. It's safe to say barring a catastrophe, Love will be at the top of the list all by himself by the end of the season.

There was also an abysmal record for Syracuse. The worst loss in school history coming into Saturday was a 62-0 defeat. The Irish surpassed that with their 70-7 win.

The ND defense also set a school record for tackles for loss in a game with a whopping 16. And that was with the second team defense playing most of the second half.

Jeremiyah Love should win the Heisman

When Notre Dame took a 21-0 lead with its defense and special teams, there was talk that this game might have ruined Jeremiyah Love's Heisman campaign. Then the star running back said "hold my beer."

On just eight carries all day, Love amassed 171 yards and 3 touchdowns. He averaged 21.4 yards per carry and had touchdown runs of 45, 14 and 68 yards. His Heisman campaign is still very much alive.

Notre Dame should terrify every single team in college football

What the Irish showed most of all on Saturday is that when this team locks in, it can hurt its opponent in so many different ways. Somehow find a way to bottle up Love? Jadarian Price will run for 70 yards on just 4 carries.

Somehow bottle up the running game? CJ Carr will pick defenses apart with the pass. Find a way to slow down the Notre Dame offense, the Irish defense will make for a very long game and can even find ways to score themselves.

No, the team is not unbeatable. They showed that in the season's first couple of weeks. But there may not be a team that is more dangerous than this version of Notre Dame football.
