The women's college basketball world was just thrown a curveball with the news of Iowa State star Audi Crooks entering the transfer portal. After spending three seasons with the Cyclones, Crooks is now looking for a new home in what will most likely be her final season before ending her career or taking her talents to the WNBA.
This news could have Notre Dame fans on edge because if Crooks can leave the Cyclones after three seasons, what does that mean for Hannah Hidalgo? After three great seasons with the Irish, Hidalgo could choose somewhere else to go to try and bring home that National Championship trophy.
So this begs the question: Will Hannah Hidalgo leave or stay with Notre Dame?
Hannah Hidalgo leaving Notre Dame is a bad joke and Irish fans aren't laughing
While some might question whether Hannah Hidalgo will stay or leave Notre Dame, there is an overwhelming feeling amongst those in South Bend that she isn't going anywhere. After Hidalgo got to the Elite Eight for the first time in her career at Notre Dame, it just feels like there is no way she is leaving the Irish.
Hidalgo just won the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award with Notre Dame and has spent three fantastic seasons with the Irish. Hearing how Hidalgo has grown with this team, especially over the last season, it just doesn't feel like there is any other school she would go to.
It should also be noted that after Notre Dame's loss to UConn in the Elite Eight, Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma asked Hidalgo if she was going pro, and her answer was amazing. Hidalgo told Auriemma that she isn't going anywhere because she wants one more shot at him and his team before taking her talents to the WNBA.
While Hidalgo could do that with another team, it seems like she is pretty content at Notre Dame and wants to bring home the glory to South Bend as a member of the Irish. Sure, people can still question and speculate that Hannah Hidalgo could enter the transfer portal, but it seems pretty far-fetched.
