The season is well over halfway through, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have made sure to remain in the College Football Playoff conversation.
However, even with the top-10 ranking and the six-game winning streak, many of the Fighting Irish stars aren't included in the end-of-season awards. When quarterback CJ Carr was asked whether or not running back Jeremiyah Love deserved more hype, he didn't hesitate.
"Absolutely, best player in America," Carr said. "He's a very consistent person, on and off the field. Never too high, never too low. On the field, he's so confident in his ability that he gives the rest of us the ability to feel confident."
Carr, of course, was agreeing that Love's Heisman Trophy campaign should start now, if it shouldn't have already been underway.
So far this season, Love has undeniably led the Notre Dame offense, especially with a freshman quarterback like Carr in the backfield.
Jeremiyah Love season stats through first 8 games
- 141 carries
- 894 rushing yards
- 11 rushing touchdowns
- 23 receptions
- 227 receiving yards
- 3 receiving touchdowns
Love has averaged over six yards per carry and nearly 10 yards per catch so far this season. He has scored 14 touchdowns, just four less than Carr, which is nearly unheard of for a running back to be that close to his quarterback's TD total.
CJ Carr was asked if we all need to start the Heisman Campaign for Jeremiyah Love.

Looking at the stat sheet alone, it's hard to deny that Love is the star of the show in South Bend. When you hear Carr talk about how big of a leader Love is, both on and off the field, it only further his case to be officially named as the best player in the country.
At a national level, he is tied for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns and has the second-longest run of the season at 94 yards, as well as the sixth-most rushing yards in the country.
He is not just a great person. Love is a dominant player, and he deserves to be recognized as such. Carr sees it, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman sees it, and the rest of the nation should see it sooner rather than later.
