ESPN analyst rips committee for stealing Notre Dame's CFP spot to give to Miami

Notre Dame loses out on the College Football Playoff by one spot and it makes no sense at all.

Notre Dame fans probably aren't watching the rest of the College Football Playoff bracket reveal show, as the Fighting Irish were snubbed out of the field. After being in the field in every single CFP ranking this season, the committee somehow felt the need to flip Miami and Notre Dame to give the Hurricanes, a team that wasn't even good enough to be in the ACC Championship, a spot in the CFP.

Notre Dame was flipped in the penultimate rankings on Tuesday with Alabama, putting the Fighting Irish's spot in jeopardy, and it turned out to be the disaster that fans were fearing. The committee flipped Notre Dame and Miami, and while fans await the explanation from committee Chairman Hunter Yurachek, the immediate thought goes to the head-to-head matchup.

The Fighting Irish fell to Miami in Week 1 by a field goal, and many wondered if it would come back to haunt Notre Dame, and it has done just that. When the bracket was revealed, many at the desk were shocked, including Joey Galloway, who made his thoughts known right away.

"Yeah, this is very strange to me," Galloway said. "Rece you mentioned earlier they (committee) hadn't compared these two teams. Well, why not? They should have absolutely compared these two teams. We had a ranking come out on Tuesday. If they were going to flip these two teams that did not play (on Saturday), they should have done it on Tuesday."

Neither Notre Dame nor Miami played this past weekend, so neither team was able to make that last push to prove something to the selection committee. Why wait to flip them when it mattered most?

Notre Dame is punished without any real explanation for the College Football Playoff

The explanation Yurachek gave for moving Miami ahead of Notre Dame made no sense, as the selection committee did everything they could to make sure Miami got in the game. Notre Dame did not have a chance to play in a conference championship as they are independent, but Miami is in one and couldn't even make it to the ACC Championship.

Miami couldn't make it to a conference championship that a first-loss Duke was able to make it to and win, so what does that really say about the Hurricanes? Also, Notre Dame lost to two teams that are now in the College Football Playoff, while Miami lost to two teams that aren't even in the Top 25 anymore.

It truly feels like the Fighting Irish just got snubbed for no reason and the committee was just always going to put Miami in, no matter what their rankings this season showcased.
