As the season draws closer and closer, most analysts believe that the Notre Dame football team will make the College Football Playoffs. Of course, most of those analysts are going by their guts. ESPN uses Bill Connelly's analytics to determine who will be going to the postseason. Unfortunately, those same analytics think that the Irish will get to the playoffs but don't have much of a shot of winning the National Title.

The article laid out the 32 teams that are the most likely to make the playoffs this winter. Notre Dame is among those teams, and the chances they make the playoffs are pretty good. The article also lays out the chances to advance once they make it to the field. And that's when things get complicated.

Analytics like Notre Dame’s path to the CFP but question its championship ceiling

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have the ninth-best chance of getting into the playoffs with 45.6% and Heather Dinich then wrote whether she agreed or disagreed with the analytics. However, the Irish only have a 2.7% chance of winning the National Title.

"Agree. Notre Dame has one of the best running back tandems in the country with Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, but the Irish will have a new starting quarterback for the sixth straight season."

"With two SEC opponents, a regular-season rivalry game against USC, a trip to Miami, and a home game against a Group of 5 CFP contender in Boise State, this is a schedule tailor-made to impress the committee -- or knock the Irish out."

The Notre Dame football team is expected to make the playoffs by almost everyone. Now it's all about proving them right about that and proving ESPN's analytics wrong about how far they'll go.
